‘Invloed van RNA-interferentie op cervixcarcinoomcellen: stimulatie van senescentie of apoptose’
De ontwikkeling van siRNA-sequenties die de expressie van E6 en E7 van verschillende HPV-types onderdrukken in cervixcarcinoomcellen afkomstig van patiënten. Onderzoek naar het functionele effect van de siRNA-sequenties op het fenotype van de primaire celculturen. Uitwerking en optimalisatie van methoden om op basis van patiëntenmateriaal primaire celculturen op te starten, te cultiveren en te transfecteren.

‘Internalisatie en intracellulair transport van HPV in de humane cel: studie in een functioneel siRNA knock-out systeem’
Ontwikkeling van een functioneel knock-out model voor de studie van clathrine-gemedieerde endocytose voor VLP’s van verschillende HPV-types om na te gaan hoe HPV-internalisatie in de humane cel plaatsvindt. Studie van de intracellulaire route en processing van HPV.

‘Correlatie tussen laminine-5 immunohistochemie en HPV status bij cervicale plaveiselcelcarcinomen’
De vergelijking van de HPV status (type, virale lading en integratiestatus) tussen normale cervicale monsters, carcinoma’s in situ en invasieve carcinoma’s om de rol van HPV te verhelderen in de progressie van niet-invasieve naar invasieve laesies.

‘Onderzoek naar RNA-gebaseerde toepassingen in liquid-based cervicale cytologie’
Evaluatie van het effect van verscheidene cytologische fixatieven op de RNA-integriteit om de mogelijkheid tot moleculair biologische toepassingen te analyseren.

‘Immunocytochemie in liquid-based cytologie: toepassing van moleculaire merkers in de screening voor cervixcarcinoom’
Onderzoek naar het potentieel van verschillende moleculaire merkers (p16, Ki-67,…) om te fungeren in de screening voor cervixcarcinoom.

‘HPV-status en de screening voor cervixcarcinoom’
Onderzoek naar de HPV-status (type, virale lading en integratiestatus) in cervicale laesies op basis van een zeer groot aantal klinische monsters. Evaluatie van HPV-detectie- en typeringssystemen. Bepaling rol van HPV-integratie in de primaire screening voor cervixcarcinoom door correlatie van HPV DNA integratiepatronen met klinische diagnoses, HPV-typering en virale lading. Bepaling waarde van de detectie van HPV-integratie in de predictie van de ziekteprogressie.
